WORLD ECONOMIC COUNCIL

The World Economic Council (WEC), is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with its global headquarter in Vienna, Austria. The WEC operates in close cooperation with business leaders, academia, government, and other stakeholders to enhance global business partnerships and support the core foundation of the democratic movement.

Ethical values in business and politics are essential for sustainable and stable global welfare and healthy economic growth. Fostering networks living by these traditional standards are key to leaders who are at the forefront of change and turmoil.

Current political developments within and outside of Europe clearly show that the destabilization of governments inevitably has negative effects on the economic development of the respective countries. In particular, the economic development of democracies is particularly susceptible to destabilizing influences.

We address all forms of radicalization, which can lead to violent extremism regardless of the political or religious ideology that may drive this. Specifically, we support initiatives to strengthen the resilience of communities in different countries by empowering credible pro-democratic voices to prevent any form of radicalization from gaining a foothold.

In the WEC community, today's foremost thinkers seek tomorrow's groundbreaking solutions. Thought leaders and visionaries push the conversation forward, inspiring all members to be creative and innovative in their collective action. Concentrating on pressing socio-economic topics, we strive to assist leaders in becoming more efficient, capable, and stable partners in a challenging, ever-changing global landscape.

The worldwide health crisis and financial and economic turmoil have clearly revealed that there is a pressing need for global action, and for people who have the breadth, the depth, the courage, and the passion to execute these actions. The WEC’s designated mission is to successfully put pioneering ideas into action through professionally coaching a communicative and interactive network comprising experts and visionaries from all areas of expertise. The hub and pivot of this mission are our carefully selected members, who are firmly joint in their commitment to traditional and ageless ethical values like honesty, credibility, responsibility, transparency, and mutual trust in both business and politics.

The WEC established a network for a New European Generation to empower business leaders working with – and within – communities around the globe to engage in radicalization prevention initiatives and promote the successful defense of the core pillars of the democratic movement. Network members, based in Europe, the Middle East, and the United States continue to work with other NGOs, national governments and their agencies, academic and other stakeholders on supporting the pro-business environment and preventing radicalization, ensuring the issue remains in the public eye.
