Flashback: 7th IWS Economic Conference

On March 21, 2024, the 7th IWS Economic Conference opened its doors under the captivating theme of “Artificial Intelligence,” jointly presented by the Internationaler Wirtschaftssenat e.V. and the Asienbrücke e.V.

An event that attracted a plethora of professionals and offered significant insights and discussions about the future of the economic landscape. The conference was inaugurated at 1 PM by Peter Nußbaum, Chairman of the International Economic Senate e.V., Andreas Scheuer, Member of Parliament and President of Asienbrücke e.V., and Manuel Gerres, Chief Transformation Advisor at SAP, who welcomed the attendees.

Renowned journalist and author Felix Lee opened the first panel, “Asian Age – Speed is the Key,” with an inspiring keynote on the chip and semiconductor industry. Esteemed experts such as Dr. Phanthian Zuesongdham, Head of Division Port Process Solution at Hamburg Port Authority, Jens Ruebbert, Managing Director & Regional Head Asia/Pacific at LBBW, and Lee himself followed on the podium. The discussion, moderated by Andreas Scheuer, provided valuable insights into Asia’s dynamic economic development.

After an engaging networking break and the opportunity to explore the SAP Experience Center, IWS Senator Prof. Dr. Alois Knoll, Chair of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Real-Time Systems at the Technical University of Munich, presented another keynote. This was followed by a panel featuring experts such as Maren Köhler-Prehn, Managing Director of GARPA Garten- und Parkeinrichtungen GmbH, Daniel Gottschald, Managing Director of TUM Campus Heilbronn gGmbH, and Dr. Axel Paeger, Chairman of the AMEOS Group, moderated by Manuel Gerres, offering deep insights into the impacts of AI on various industries.

The first day of the conference concluded with a relaxed networking event in the SAP foyer, providing attendees the opportunity to deepen conversations and forge new connections.

On the second day, participants enjoyed a breakfast talk at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski, bringing the conference to a close in a relaxed setting. Gereon Hinz, Managing Director of STTech GmbH and Ailantus GmbH, successfully bridged the discussions of the first day with practical steps entrepreneurs can take to incorporate the momentum and insights into their businesses and advance the implementation of Artificial Intelligence.

The 7th IWS Economic Conference was undoubtedly a successful event that advanced discussions about the future of the economy and the role of Artificial Intelligence.
